A CYCLING spectacular which saw top riders take to the Wiltshire roads in May will be repeated next year.

The routes and date of the Cycle Wiltshire is still to be confirmed, but the council says it hopes to run the event over the May Bank Holiday next year.

More than 500 riders, both experienced and beginners, rode sportive events starting and finishing in Salisbury this May.

And thousands stood by the roadside to cheer on the elite race which formed part of the British Cycling National Road Race series.

The 101-mile race was won in a sprint finish by Polish professional Marcin Bialoblocki.

Jane Scott, leader of Wiltshire Council, said: “This was a wonderful event we just have to repeat it in 2015."
