The victim of a brutal attack in Faringdon Park has agreed to have this shocking photograph released as police appeal for information about the incident.

Wiltshire Police say that last Wednesday, at about 00.10am, a local man was walking through Faringdon Park when he was approached by two men who assaulted him. 

He was punched to the ground and the men took his rucksack and wallet before running off in towards Park Lane.

The victim received hospital treatment for injuries. 

Both suspects are described as aged in their late teens to early twenties and one is thought to have been wearing a grey tracksuit with the hood up.

DC Mark Harris said: "As we can see in the photograph the victim sustained nasty facial injuries which required hospital treatment. He was very shaken by the attack.

"I am appealing for the help of the community and would like to hear from anyone who may have seen the robbery or who has information regarding those responsible.

"Any information could be crucial to the investigation." 

Two local men were arrested on suspicion of robbery and have been released on bail pending further enquiries.

Although the victim agreed to the realease of the photograph his identity is not being released.
