STUDENTS came together in the spirit of the season at Swindon College this week to host a winter market and raise money for charity.

The college students themselves arranged the market, which took place in the Avenue and Main Hall on Wednesday afternoon.

The event was entirely organised by members of the Student Union, who organised the event to take place to raise money for Wroughton-based Prospect Hospice and Cancer Research.

Dozens turned out to show their support and help raise money for the charities and browse the stalls to pick up some last minute presents.

Stalls included the Bunny Pumpkin Boutique, Mrs Sherwood’s Fancy Cakes, handmade jewellery, make up from Forever Living, card making, hair braiding, a photo-shoot, Lush, Carved Up as well as other accessories and crafts.

There was also live music from local performer Jimmy Moore, Christmas songs from the foundation learning department and a Santa’s grotto as well as a raffle.

A spokesman from the Student Union said on their website: “We had a great day at the Winter Market with the union managing to raise just under £320 for Cancer Research and Prospect Hospice.

“We have been inundated with requests to do this again and the Union is now considering this for Easter.

“A special thank you to Jimmy Moore for providing our music.”
