FUNDRAISER Amberley Jamieson is paying tribute to her father by hosting a charity ball on Friday evening.

Amberley, 18, is holding the event at Lydiard House Conference Centre, at Lydiard Park, to raise money for SILA, a charity that supports those with sarcoidosis, a rare condition affecting organs and skin causing a shortness of breath and a persistent cough.

Amberley’s father David had a long battle with the illness and died in March 2013 at the age of 50.

“He suffered from it for about seven years,” she said. “This is a really rare condition and not a lot of people have heard of it.

“So, I hope that Friday’s event will help raise awareness as well as lots of money for the charity.

“I think my dad would be proud of me for doing this and helping to raise awareness.”

The ball will begin at 8pm, running until midnight. The dress code is formal and highlights of the event will include live music performances and a raffle.

Prizes include a workshop at The Core juice bar, in Old Town, and a selection of hampers.

Amberley said: “Preparations have been going really well and we are expecting to welcome about 70 people.

“It has been quite stressful putting this together but I’ve had a lot of support from my friends and family which has been great.”

SILA was formed in 1997 and works to find a cure for the condition and also provide care for those with sarcoidosis and their families. Tickets for Friday’s ball cost £15 and anyone wishing to go can email Amberley on amberley.jamison@hotmail.com.
