RANGE Rover keys, a draft business plan and a hockey stick are among some of the random items left behind at Swindon’s Travelodge last year.

Other belongings left at the hotel in Princes Way include a Swindon Town season ticket, a Marc Jacobs handbag, a train season ticket to London, a pair of diamond earrings, a DVD boxset of In The Night Garden and a fishing rod.

The items are stored in the centre’s lost and found office, with the company working to reunite the items with their owners. If they are unable to, after three months property which can be donated is given to charity shops.

Across the country the chain has 500 hotels, with some of the other bizarre items being left nationally including a prosthetic hand, a 40-year-old love letter, a Krypton Digital storm gaming laptop and a pug called Dancer.

Travelodge spokeswoman Shakila Ahmed said: “As a result of Travelodge changing for a new modern look and feel, more new business customers and families have been staying across our 500 UK-based hotels.

“Therefore, this year’s lost and found inventory list has revealed some new unique items being left behind such as an antique dolls house, a child’s Porsche car and a Star Wars Storm Trooper outfit.

“Our 2014 left behind register also revealed how much smart technology has become a part of our everyday lives, as we have had 12,000 tablets and smartphones left behind in our hotels in the last 12 months. This is a significant increase from previous years.

“What is becoming evident after speaking to our customers is that the pace of life has become so fast and we are so eager to get from A to B that valuable possessions are easily being forgotten.”

Around 17 million people annually stay at Travelodge’s hotels.
