TEAM members at the Wilko store in Fleet Street raised more than £540 for the RSPCA over the festive season for the store’s regional charity of the year.
Staff dressed in their finest Christmas jumpers and invited customers to jingle all the way down to the store and join in with a Yuletide fundraising event.
Customers were treated to a cake stall in relturn for a donation, and children wrote letters to Santa.
Kath Wilson, store manager, said: “I’d like to thank the team for all getting involved and putting on their best Christmas jumpers and contributing. It all paid off as customers really got into the festive spirit and were very generous with their donations.”
Rachel Horton, account manager at RSPCA, said: “We are really grateful to Wilko for transforming the store into a festive treat for our charity.
“The team members looked fantastic in their festive jumpers and the money customers donated will help us save the lives of more animals.”
Wilko is a third generation, family-owned business. J K Wilkinson opened the first Wilko store in Leicester in 1930.
