SWINDON was whisked back to the 1960s this week as the cast of a retro show stopped off at a vintage shop in the town.

The cast of Dreamboats and Miniskirts, which runs at the Wyvern Theatre until Saturday, were at Carry On Vintage, in Swindon town centre, browsing for purchases from an era matching the setting of their performances.

The shop was opened in August 2013 by husband and wife team Stephen and Alicia Stuart, from Lawns.

“We were thrilled to welcome members of the cast to the shop,” said Stephen.

“They turned up in full costume, hair and makeup and spent some time browsing through the store.

“Carry On Vintage stocks a large range of vintage and retro ladies and gents clothing from the 1950 and 60s, and the cast enjoyed seeing the range of original vintage pieces for sale in store.”

Dreamboats and Miniskirts is the musical sequel to Dreamboats and Petticoats and follows the lives of three young couples in the early 1960s when the advent of the Beatles and the Merseyside sound is inspirational to them.

It features classics such as Twist & Shout, Handy Man, Pretty Woman, One Fine Day, It’s In His Kiss, The Hippy Hippy Shake and many more performed live on stage.
