RECORD-BREAKING donations have been handed out to worthwhile causes after the ninth annual Emergency Services Show brought in more than £30,000 in funds.

The show, held every year at Hullavington, raises money for the three emergency services and their charity partners, with Wiltshire Air Ambulance scooping £4,000 this time round.

It is organised by a committee of volunteers drawn from Wiltshire Police, Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service, South Western Ambulance Service and the Highways Agency.

Last year’s event featured displays from Wiltshire Police’s dog section, a road traffic collision simulation, and a Cricklade fire cadets demonstrating their skills.

At a presentation event yesterday, 21 organisations received cheques from the show’s organising committee, made up of volunteers from the three organisations.

ESS chairman, Chris Harvey, said: “We are delighted to have given such a large amount of money as a result of our most successful show yet."

Among the guests were officers from the blue light services, and representatives of the show’s main sponsors, Vodafone and Grist Group.

The 2015 show takes place on September 13. and for more information, or to register as an exhibitor or trader, visit www.emergencyservicesshow.com.

Donations were made to groups that support the work of the emergency services; however, there were also donations to local organisations that support the Show itself.

Wiltshire Air Ambulance and Swift Medics received £4,000 each, and £2,500 went to Great Western Air Ambulance, Wiltshire Search and Rescue, Ambulance Benevolent Fund, Care of Police Survivors and the Fire Fighters Charity.

ESS chairman Chris Harvey said: “We are delighted to have given such a large amount of money as a result of our most successful Show yet.

“This year we will be celebrating our tenth show and we are proud to say that, over the years, we have donated some £115,000 to charities and organisations that work with the emergency services both in Wiltshire and further afield.”

“This is a fantastic achievement and, on behalf of the committee, I would like to thank the chief officers of the blue light services, all of our sponsors and of course the public for their continuing and generous support.”
