A 12-YEAR-OLD girl who beat the odds to survive a rare cancer will fulfill a long-held ambition when she takes to the stage at the Royal Albert Hall this weekend.

On Sunday Ella Kilty, from Wroughton, will will perform at the Frankie & Benny’s Rays of Sunshine Concert, as part of the Rays Of Sunshine Wish Choir.

The choir features 25 children living with serious or life-limiting illnesses, who have all had their wishes granted by the charity.

The inspirational youngster will perform Bring Me Sunshine alongside popstars Aston Merrygold of JLS and Pixie Lott .

Like a true A-lister, Ella is remaining cool under pressure according to her mother Ceri.

“She’s very excited but not nervous at all,” she said. “I’m probably more nervous than she is.

“She said she can’t wait to get on the stage in front of everyone and she’s really hoping she’ll meet Little Mix as she’s their biggest fan.”

The concert will have about 1,500 seriously ill children in the audience to watch theNe-Yo, Conor Maynard, Ella Eyre, Union J, Luke Friend, Collabro and more.

Following a routine eye test, Ella was diagnosed with rare eye cancer retinoblastoma, aged just four.

Retinoblastoma is cancer of the retina only seen in children under five. It causes the cells of the retina, the light sensitive lining at the back of the eye, to grow rapidly and out of control.

Tests revealed Ella had a large tumour that was in danger of severing her optic nerve and aged five, she had to have her left eye removed to save her life.

“It was every parent’s worst nightmare when we thought we might lose her,” said Ceri.

“As mad as it sounds, losing an eye wasn’t as big a deal as we thought it was. If it meant we could keep her we would do whatever it takes.”

“It used to really get to her that she had a glass eye and she would hate having it cleaned. But in the past couple of years she’s really turned around and become so much more positive.

“She’s always been a positive girl and now nothing gets her down.”

Ella has been clear of the cancer for seven years now and must travel to London to undergo frequent check-ups.

Rays Of Sunshine previously gave Ella the chance to be famous for the day, when she was picked up in a pink limo, and whisked off to Londonto have a make-over and photoshoot for fashion giant ASOS.

Ceri praised the charity for giving Ella many happy memories.

“Rays Of Sunshine have been amazing and made Ella so happy. We’re so proud of her,” she said.
