A TASTE of home is set to come to Old Town next month with the launch of a new cafe.

Dotty’s Old Town Cafe, run by business partners and couple Graham Rowcliffe and Elizabeth Baylis, will open its doors on September 7.

The Devizes Road eaterie promises to deliver a taste of traditional home cooking at an affordable price and will operate from the unit formerly occupied by The Cafe.

Owner and chef Graham said Dotty’s, named after Elizabeth’s mother, aims to provide traditional home comfort food.

“We’ll always try and do something a bit different here, including roast dinners, a nice warming stew, freshly made sandwiches, cakes, baguettes and of course a full English," he said.

"It is the type of food that your mum would make and there is no better cook.

“The prices are very reasonable, if you come here you will get a decent meal and value for money."

Extensive renovations are already underway at Dotty's, which hopes to open its doors next month.

Graham said: “I’m feeling okay and pretty confident so far. Things are going to plan, we’ve had the electricians in today and we have the finishing touches to go but we’re on track.

“We’ve given it a new lease of life and the renovations so far are going to plan so fingers crossed."

The couple are no strangers to running a buzzing cafe, having operated a successful business in Newbury which Graham said this had prepared the couple for Old Town life.

“We ran our cafe for years so we know the trade, we just felt it was the right time and when this opportunity came up it was difficult to pass it up although we never thought we would move to Swindon and get such a great location for our cafe," he said.

The pair, who recently moved to Grange Park now have their sights set on building a loyal customer base in the town.

Graham added: “We’re on a busy stretch of street with generous foot flow and we provide good quality generous portions of food so we feel that Old Town is the perfect place to grow our business.

"We’ve already had people popping their heads in for a chat and promising to visit us so it’s a really exciting time for us.”

Dotty’s Old Town Cafe will hold an open day from 3pm to 9pm on September 7,giving potential customers the chance to look around and sample some of the dishes that will be on offer.
