A TEENAGER has been arrested on suspicion of child abduction after police launched a missing persons inquiry for a 12-year-old girl on Monday.
The young girl had been reported missing that afternoon, and was found unharmed by officers in the North Swindon area in the company of an 18-year-old woman, who was known to her.
The teenager was arrested on suspicion of child abduction late that night, and has since been released on bail pending further enquiries.
A Wiltshire Police spokesman said: "An 18-year-old woman was arrested on Monday evening at approximately 10.40pm on suspicion of child abduction.
"The woman was located by officers in the North Swindon area with a 12-year-old girl who had been reported missing that afternoon. The young girl was not harmed.
"The 18-year-old has been released on bail pending further enquiries."
