THREE pubs in Swindon have been commended for their range of beers and have been awarded the ultimate badge of honour in the alcohol trade.

The Beehive, in Prospect Hill, The Savoy, in Regent Street, and Yates’s, in Bridge Street, are the latest additions to a list of eight Swindon venues included in the Campaign For Real Ale (CAMRA) Good Beer Guide 2016.

Richard James, secretary of Swindon And North Wiltshire CAMRA, said venues had to earn inclusion in the list every and were not included after just a one-off visit.

“The Beehive has had a major refurbishment, which has allowed them to have a wider range of beers and gain popularity,” he said.

“The Savoy and Yates’s were down to their beer ranges.

"They put on a wide selection, which changes quite regularly.”

Andy Marcer, Beehive manager, said: “This is recognition of work you put in. It’s nice to know it’s appreciated.”

Liam Stack, The Savoy’s manager, said staff work hard to ensure that the real ales are kept in first-class condition at all times.

The Blunsdon Arms in Lady Lane, The Glue Pot in Emlyn Square, The Hop Inn in Devizes Road, The Weighbridge Brewhouse in Penzance Drive and Wheatsheaf Ale House in Newport Street are also in the guide
