SUPERMARINE Bowls Club celebrate their 60th anniversary this year.

The club have organised several functions and four special matches to mark the occasion.

The first special game is due to take place this coming Friday, May 11 (2pm).

The English Men's Bowling Association led by Pete Arnold (Kent) have honoured the Supermarine club by agreeing to play a mixed match against them led by Supermarine president and secretary Mike Baycroft.

Also lined-up during the summer to mark the anniversary are matches against Wiltshire Men's BA on Sunday June 17, a mixed county team the following month on Tuesday July 24, and also a mixed match with the Swindon and District Men's and Women's Association on Friday August 31.

The hectic schedule of matches also includes two mixed games against different touring teams.

TEAM v EBA Rink 1: Michael Baycroft (president), Pat Fox, Alan Clark and Bill Jordan (captain).

Rink 2: Terry Sayer, Vera Elismore, Peter Blackler and Alan Penfold.

Rink 3: Ron Ansell, Audrey Reed, Denis Payne and Steven Axton.

Rink 4: Win Sayer, Andy Grey, Mike Scott and Alan Wilkinson.

Rink 5: Tommy Wooster, Pat Jones (ladies captain), Jack Peterson and Mike Shepherd.

Rink 6: Tony Dunphy, Roy Reed, Joe Ruddick and Eddie Boulton.

Reserve: Eric Rayson, Margaret Springham and Roy Watson.

Supermarine are looking for new members. They have a qualified coach and free coaching is available if required, And new members to the game of bowls get free membership for the first year.
