MORE than 400 people attended Hillier Funeral Service’s 19th annual remembrance service at at the weekend.

It took place on Sunday at Christ Church and was led by the Rev Canon Simon Stevenette.

The Rev Nick Line gave the address.

Bereavement care co-ordinator Judith Hill said: “Wessex Male Choir sang four items which included a beautiful rendition of the Lord’s Prayer and a very rousing finale.

“As always Wroughton Silver band played beautiful music throughout the service.

“Staff and clients of the funeral service were involved in the readings and poems included in the service.

“The banner covered with autumn leaves representing loved ones lost looked very beautiful as always.

“And the congregation were given small bunches of the herb rosemary – which represents remembrance – after giving their leaves to be pinned onto the banner.

“The afternoon tea, which was held in the community centre at Christ Church following the service, was extremely well attended.

“Wonderful home-made refreshments provided ensured everyone went home having had some time to speak with others going through the journey of grief.

“Hillier Bereavement Care would like to thank everyone who attended for taking part and making this such a successful event.”

The funeral service company has already begun preparing for next year’s event.
