SHOPPERS in Swindon town centre yesterday would be forgiven for thinking they needed their eyes tested after they were confronted with the statue of Isambard Kingdom Brunel sporting a woman’s bra.
The statue outside the Brunel Centre was snapped wearing the bright pink number, amusing and shocking passers-by going about their business.
The statue is outside the shopping centre where a giant crocheted undergarment is on display after four months of work by the Swindon Bitch and Stitch knitting group.
On display until October 31, the 4.5kg 620cm wide and 200cm high bra, which took 12 group members four months to crochet is part of an exhibition raising awareness and funds for Against Breast Cancer which was launched by Erika Roe, who is famous for streaking at Twickenham in 1982.
Listed on auction website eBay bidding for the ‘used’ over the shoulder boulder holder has a starting bid of £250.
