ELEVEN jobs are to be cut by Zurich at its Swindon offices in New Bridge Square amid a national cost-cutting programme by the insurance provider.

Today plans were announced to cut 440 jobs across its UK general insurance business in an effort to cut costs and simplify its structure.

The positions in Swindon, based out of the offices in Tri Centre One, will be axed before the end of March 2016.

While there will be no voluntary redundancy system in place, those employees at risk of redundancy will be offered the chance to express their preference for the future.

Zurich is keen to stress the Swindon redundancies will not come from the main part of the operation in UK life insurance.

Those departments affected will be within general insurance, such as home and car, from roles such as claims, underwriting and human resources.
