A STUDENT from Swindon who won a competition to find the best time-saving gadget has this week launched her prototype in Las Vegas.

Bianca Polizzi, 21, of Westmorland Road, submitted her idea for a portable and rechargeable Kettle Kup in October.

Now Pot Noodle has helped the former New College student turn the idea from a tweet into a working prototype with the opportunity to showcase it to thousands.

The Kettle Kup has been in development with product designers who have been drawing up computer diagrams and working with Bianca to enhance the design, including the addition of a compartment to hold tea, coffee or sugar and a slot for a stirrer.

Bianca, who is in her second year at Bath University studying European Studies with Italian and French, is now spending this week introducing the Kettle Kup to thousands of tech and innovation experts at the Consumer Electronics Show.

The show which attracts major companies and industry professionals worldwide is known for launching some of the biggest innovations and ideas of recent times including plasma TV, the camcorder and netbooks and tablets.

Speaking from Las Vegas, Bianca said: “I’ve made it for real now.

“It was only a few months ago that I was at university trying to think of the best time-saving ideas and now I’m showcasing the concept.

“To be in Las Vegas among so many inspiring people is incredible and I hope the Kettle Kup has caught the attention of people who want to save precious minutes each day.

“It can also help those who don’t want to spend so much money on take-away coffees.

“They can instead have a hot beverage at the click of a button – anywhere, anytime.”

More than 80 would-be inventors entered the Pot Noodle #YouCanMakeIt competition and Bianca was one of three finalists.

More than 450 people voted for her to win the competition which involved taking a once in a lifetime trip to Las Vegas.

Pot Noodle marketing manager Monique Rossi said: “Launching a new idea in Las Vegas is the pinnacle of making it and we’re delighted to have helped Bianca.”
