A STRONG leadership team who aim to support the vision of St Bartholomew Primary Church School have been praised by inspectors who rated the Academy outstanding in their latest report.

The Royal Wootton Bassett School had an inspection by the Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools (SIAMs) on January 21 and they were delighted to find out this week about their rating which was outstanding again – a title they have held for more than two years.

Tony Cook, who has only been in the headteacher post since September last year, said he was extremely proud of the result.

“We are absolutely delighted with the outcome of this inspection," he said.

“It truly reflects the incredible effort of the whole school community in ensuring we provide an outstanding school experience to develop the whole child within a Christian ethos and with strong moral values.

“I would personally like to thank the super team here at the school.”

In the report, it was stated that an effective partnership between the headteacher and the deputy shaped a strong leadership team which allowed them to build systems that support the vision of the school.

St Bartholomew’s, which was converted to an academy under the Diocese of Salisbury Multi Academy Trust in 2014, has 331 pupils on roll whose attainment is in line with expectations and progress often above national expectations according to the report.

Inspector Marianne Phillips added: “This is an outstanding church school where pupils, of all abilities, thrive.

“Systems underpinning school improvement ensure clarity of direction. Leaders monitor progress in achievement half termly, involving the whole staff, to target next steps to improve.

“The developmental points from the previous inspection have been met. Links between the church, school and community are very strong. Consequently, the school is highly respected and appreciated by those it serves. The school meets the requirements for RE and collective worship.

“They know their school, their pupils and the families they serve. The ethos of love and care nurtures each individual.”

A SIAMs inspection evaluates the Christian distinctiveness of the school and the way in which the school meets the needs of its pupils.
