A MAN charged with robbing a bookies in Swindon will appear in court next week.

Guy Sullivan appeared by video link from HMP Portland at Swindon Magistrates' Court this morning.

Sullivan, 35, is charged with robbing a woman at the Coral bookmakers in Market Street of £3,843.90 on September 19, 2015.

Sullivan told the magistrates he had not received a summons for the charge and currently had no legal representation.

The court heard his summons had been sent to HMP Bristol.

Magistrates adjourned the matter to be heard on Friday, February 25, at Swindon Magistrates' Court, when he will appear in person.

However he will appear by video link at Chippenham Magistrates' Court tomorrow to discuss the matter of bail as the magistrates heard he could potentially be released from HMP Portland on a tag before Friday week.

The matter was adjourned for him to seek legal advice.

Magistrates ordered he be remanded overnight until his bail could be decided.
