Swindon's Madam Renard's Fringe is the perfect platform for new writing.

This year founder and playwright, Matt Fox, will share centre stage with Max Brandt, artistic director of Theatre Hub.

Matt's own set of monologues, The Lady Killers, will be performed at the Meca, Regent Circus, on Friday, April 8 from 7pm, alongside Dominion, Max's new and thought-provoking drama, as part of this year's Fringe.

Dominion is based around a young, married couple who have to face the biggest test of their deep love for each other when Siobhan is diagnosed with Cancer.

Siobhan deals with the horror by trying to find Eddie a new love, so he won't be alone when she dies, but she soon finds that jealousy creeps in when nurse Holly arrives.

For Eddie it is a barricade, erected by the Cancer, hindering their physical and emotional closeness, that is the problem.

Max tells a powerful tale of love, a romance that tears at the heartstrings yet it deals lightly with the heavy material and is full of humour.

Carly Barnes and James Osben play Siobhan and Eddie. James is currently studying at The Old Vic.

Theatre Hub is based in the West Country and, where ever they can, they are keen to use local talent.

Max has always had a love of live theatre but started out in a rock band.

Max's wife, Jane Windsor-Smith, is the co-founder of Theatre Hub, and she will be directing Dominion when they come to Swindon.

Twenty-five per cent of the royalties received from Max's play, which is published by Magic Oxygen, will go to Breast Cancer Research.

The Swindon Fringe runs from the April 1 to 10 in various venues. Tickets are available through the Wyvern Theatre on 01793 524481. - Flicky Harrison
