A PARKING administrator will go before a judge at the crown court next month facing charges of fraud and the theft or more than £25,000 from Swindon Borough Council.

31-year-old Lee Halliday came before magistrates sitting in Swindon on Wednesday morning to answer the two charges against him, but the magistrates declined jurisdiction due to the amount of money involved and referred the case to the crown court.

Halliday, of Jennings Street, faces one charge of fraud by abuse of position between March 1, 2014 and February 20, 2015 when he worked as a parking administrator. He is charged that instead of safeguarding the financial interests of Swindon Borough Council is dishonestly abused his position causing a loss to the council.

He also faced a second charge of stealing £25,353.27 from the council between September 21, 2009 and September 27, 2014.

Halliday entered no pleas to the charges. He will next appear at Swindon Crown Court on Friday, May 13.
