Joe Theobald, aka DJ Captain Wormhole, looks at all things vinyl

AFTER a two-month hiatus, Beers & Records is back this Friday but with one minor alteration: we’ve re-venued.

Some have suggested Dean getting barred from the Vic as the reason, others have asked if our hand was forced after I kept starting arguments.

The truth is nobody can really remember — it’s just happening and that’s that.

We’re actually ‘on tour’ from now on — this month it’s the Castle, next month who knows? Longs? The Rozzer Dozzer?* Belle Vue’s RAFA Club? Swindon’s famous Old Town is our delicious Iodine Oyster of possibility...

We’re particularly honoured to be hosting Louis Gatto at this week’s B&R.

This seasoned crooner and one time house band leader of the world famous Tropicana Club, Miami Beach has indistinct family ties in North Wiltshire, and Friday will be his first gig this side of the pond since the Blackpool/Wigan/Scunthorpe tour of ‘82.

Thanks to North Street’s sensitive sleepers we’ll be kicking off much earlier than usual (8pm– 1ish). Be sure to arrive on time and bag yourself a good seat for Louis’ set — he’s typically drunk and obnoxious by the third song (think classless Dean Martin but with a handlebar moustache and a 38in waste).

Signor Gatto will be joined on the mic by regular lyrical roughnecks Red Forman, Tall Liam and Dean ‘Got Bars to Get Barred’ Morse plus the inimitable DJ 51 sharing turntable duties with myself.

On a separate note — I’m not naming any names but just to be 100% clear, the plural of vinyl is vinyl. Not vinyls.
