TWO men were arrested on suspicion of supplying hard drugs after police dog Charlie sniffed out a large amount of cash.

Officers from the Dedicated Crime Team went to an address in Eastcott Road shortly after 8.30am after reports of drug dealing taking place inside.

On arrival, two men were seen to run from the address and were detained nearby by officers.

Evidence of drug supply was found at the house and dog handler PC Neil Parsons and his police dog Charlie, a springer spaniel, then searched the surrounding area.

Charlie sniffed out a large amount of cash and a suspected dealer mobile phone hidden in a wall in an alleyway covered with stones and litter.

One man, 19, was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of a class A drugs, possession of a class B drug and possession with intent to supply class B drugs.

Another man, 21, was arrested for being concerned in the supply of class A drugs.

Both the men, who are from London, were taken to custody at Gablecross Police Station and released on bail pending further enquiries.

A Wiltshire Police spokesperson said: “This was an example of different areas of the Force including the Dedicated Crime Team and the Dog Unit working together resulting in the arrest of two men.

“We would encourage anyone who suspects drug activity to be taking place in their neighbourhood to contact police immediately via 101.”
