A FUND to help a little girl take her first steps will be boosted by commission from a fight event at Swindon MECA next month.

The family and friends of Layla Moger, from Toothill, are selling tickets for the MMA Raged 4 event on June 4 and will collect the commission on the tickets sold for Layla's fund.

They are also providing tickets for the Swindon Fightclub this Saturday at MECA, again with all the commission going into the Steps for Layla fund. Former boxer Nick Blackwell is expected to attend the event.

Both events will be holding raffles to boost the appeal further.

Steps for Layla was launched to help the three-year-old who was born with spastic diplegia cerebral palsy, which affects the movement of her legs and left arm. She was diagnosed at 13 months.

It is hoped that an operation - a selective dorsal rhizotomy - will allow the resilient toddler to be able to walk unaided.

The operation along with two years of aftercare will cost around £50,000 with the Moger family potentially having to travel to America for the surgery.

Layla’s family, led by parents Kelly Smith and Joe Moger, have launched the Steps For Layla campaign, to raise £50,000 to ensure the resilient toddler will be able to take her own first steps.
