QUEENS Park will be alive with the sights and sounds of Poland on Sunday as Swindon’s Polish community hold a celebration.
The Polish Catholic Mission, based at the community centre and church in Park South, is encouraging the rest of Swindon to come out and experience the very best of their culture during the Polish Day fete.
The event, to be held between midday and 6pm, is set to be a festival of food, music, displays and activities for all the family.
Marcin Hawrylo, from the Community Centre, said: “Polish Day will be held at Queens Park which is a well-known and friendly place for family activities.
“This event aims to promote Polish culture, tradition and Polish businesses in Swindon – we want to improve the image of Poles and promote a positive image of Poland.
“We are expecting about 3,000 visitors, both Poles and other residents of Swindon.”
Among the activities on offer will be face painting and bouncy castles for the kids, as well as traditional Polish dishes such as grilled pork neck and Polish beers for the adults.
Local Polish organisations including the Saturday school, the scouts, the Oberek folk band and also Polish restaurateurs have announced their attendance at the event.
