A CHARITY fun day held to raise funds for a cause close to organiser Cheryl Baker’s heart has raised almost £1,000.

Cheryl hosted the fun day at Swindon rugby club on Greenbridge Road on Sunday in aid of Hop, Skip & Jump, which provides high quality respite care for children and young adults with disabilities and special education needs.

With the even blessed with glorious sunshine Cheryl said she was delighted with the success of the event, which included a raffle and children’s activities. She said: “They are a respite centre for disabled children, they have helped my son on many occasions, and also my nephews.

“The weather held out for us all, and it was a very good day, there was lots of people who came down to visit us! In total I raised £918.19 for Hop, Skip and Jump, and I organised a second hand stall and all money from this stall goes to Brimble Hill Special Needs School where my son Lucas attends, I raised £39.96 for them.”

She added she had been blown away by the level of support throughout the day.

“I just want to say a big thankyou to everyone who came down to the event, for hop, skip and jump, I would like to thank all stall holders that came, sorry if I didn't get to say goodbye or thankyou but I really do appreciate it all,” she said.

“I can't wait to start planning next year’s one, I'm so glad the weather held out for us, some of us got a little burnt, well done to everyone on the raffle.”
