MUSIC is the key to happiness for teenager Cameron Antal who found a way to cope with losing his dad by expressing himself through music.

Cameron's dad died of cancer when he was just seven and ever since then he has been coping with his grief by writing songs.

The 15-year-old who now has more than 50,000 views collectively on his videos on his YouTube channel (MCTecs) recently paid tribute to his dad on Father’s Day with a vocal voice letter which has more than 1.6k views.

He often writes pieces featuring his 11-year-old friend and singer Elisa Sheppard, a former Britain’s Got Talent (BGT) contestant.

Cameron said: “Through my childhood things were difficult. We all have bad times and the older I got the more I figured that writing rhymes was a really good way to express myself. I then went to the next level of writing music.

“I found beats and written rhymes were a way to address subjects that I felt deeply about, starting off with my past experiences and I just rapped over instrumentals. I then posted them online and my fan base grew from there.

“It is amazing how many people actually visit my Facebook and YouTube page, listening to what I write about, it is great.”

Cameron has been asked to take part in the Party in the Park event on July 30 at Swindon's Restore charity shop in St. Johns Church Hall.

Cameron’s mum, Louise Morecombe, said: “It hit our son hard, Cameron found it hard to express his feelings through talking, so he started to sing and rap his feelings.

"He progressed and was noticed, others then came forward who had found life hard and asked Cameron to rap for them on their situation.

“He has focussed his whole childhood on helping others move forward from their own difficult times, from suicide, depression, and drug addiction and sexual abuse. He will work so hard and cover anything that is requested.

“Through his talent Cameron has helped so many others including myself with a bipolar rap that he did. He is my rock, his life ambition is to help anyone he can and I am so proud of him. Just like his dad Chris would be if he was alive.

"He is a credit to me, and thousands of others and I thank god everyday my son has grown into the man he is.”

Chris died at 28 after a three-year battle with throat cancer.

Cameron starts college this year and his aim, he says, is to make everyone happy throughout his life.

“For me to be able to attend and perform at Party in the Park is a part of my dream, in the future, I would love to be able to make it in the music industry," he said.

"For locals to be able to help me to do that and to be recognised is great, it is a credit to make music for others to enjoy.”

Cameron said he and Elisha are now planning to audition for BGT next year.
