PILLS that police think could be ecstasy were found by people clearing litter after a music festival near Brinkworth at the weekend.

Security staff working at Fieldview Festival handed the blue tablets to Wiltshire Police who said afterwards: “The festival was attended by families including children and these pills could easily have been picked up by a member of the public.”

They said the pills bore a resemblance to ecstasy, which has been linked to the deaths of several young people in the past.

“Apart from being illegal, these drugs pose a real danger to the public, especially children. We would like to warn anyone attending these types of events to be aware that drugs may be lying around and to ensure their children are aware of the dangers of consuming pills, even if they believe them to be safe.”

Police advised anyone who found drugs while they were at festivals to hand them to security for destruction.
