TWINS Ryan and Connor Buckenham are among the Ridgeway School students to pass their A-Levels with flying colours after bagging seven A*s and As between them.

Ryan got an A* in maths and As in product design and physics, as well as an A in AS Level further maths. While Connor got A*s in maths and geography and an A in further maths.

The teenage duo are now both off to continue their education at universities in either Exeter or Nottingham.

Speaking about the student’s achievements, principal of the school in Wroughton, James Povoas said: “We are absolutely delighted.

“We’ve had jigs, we’ve had dances, we’ve had tears – mostly positive – they have been elated.”

Naomi Willett, 18, was among the other students to be celebrating after achieving an A in media studies and two Bs in drama and graphic design.

“I’m really relieved,” she said. “I’m shell shocked.”

Ellie Jerome also got straight As and is heading to Oxford University to study philosophy, politics and economics, while Sam Gowshall also achieved straight As and is going to St George's, University of London to study medicine.

Meanwhile Sam Burgess got three Cs and will be studying popular music at the University of Gloucester. The dream for the 19-year-old, who plays the drums and piano, is to work in the music industry or be in a band.

“I pleased with my results and was pretty optimistic this morning,” he said. “The exams were definitely a lot harder than last year."

Lauren Winton, 19, is off to Oxford Brookes University to study history after getting the results she needed to bag a place there.

Ed Lever, 19, who got an A* in business studies, an A in economics and B in accountancy, will be studying accountancy and finance at Loughborough University,

Mr Povoas added: “70 per cent of our students will go on to university.

“There are a couple of students who are one mark away from a grade so we are speaking to the universities on their behalf to get them in.

“We have seen a seven per cent increase in the A*-C results, the best ever results for the school, it is just wonderful. But it is about the students and you see their faces and even if they are going through difficulty trying to work out the next step we have a team of people around them.

“It’s priceless and such a privilege to share seeing them set up for life and go on to be successful.”
