Sky customers are currently experiencing problems with their internet and phone service and the company has said that it may "take some time" before the service is restored.

Customers have been unable to access the web since 9.50am Thursday morning.

Sky has said that internet users across the region are affected by the outage.

This includes customers in Swndon, Broad Hinton, Chippenham, Ashbury, Hullavington, North Cerney, Bradinstoke, Purton, Toothill, Blunsdon, Brinkworth, Highworth, Sherston, Royal Wootton Bassett and Cirencester.

A spokesman from Sky said: “We’re really sorry that customers in the Gloucestershire area are currently experiencing issues with their broadband and talk services. We are working to fix the issue as quickly as possible and we apologise for the inconvenience this is causing.

"The fault is due to road works, which is beyond our control. But engineers are working hard to restore service as soon as possible."

A statement on the Sky website says: "We have a number of engineers active in the area. Due to the complexities of the restorative works, it is likely to take some time to restore service."

Mark Clifford, 47, of Pinehurst, who has been a Sky customer for the past 14 years, said: “I was on the phone for 15 minutes and when I finally got through to someone they hung up on me.

“I’ve had no broadband and no telephone line since half past nine this morning and I can’t do anything.

“They are usually a very good company, they do good deals to try and keep you as a customer. But I can’t believe they put the phone down on me."
