ALL things eco-friendly will be celebrated during when the town’s second Eco Fest returns on Sunday.

Information on gardening, growing, sharing, repairing and sustainable living are all on the day’s agenda.

The event will be held at Savernake Street Social Hall between 11am to 4pm and throughout the afternoon there will be information and activity stalls, talks, recycled art and crafts, storytelling and face painting.

There will also be an opportunity to get bikes checked and security marked.

Thanks to a grant from Swindon Borough Council, the Eco Fest is free but there will be a raffle and refreshments available to buy.

The event is organised by Eastcott Community Organisation and Swindon Climate Action Network.

Simon Smith, the chairman of Swindon Climate Action Network, is looking forward to the event.

“The Eco Fest is a great day to find out about living a greener life, be it discovering Swindon’s green spaces, improving your home energy or just getting your bike checked,” he said.

“It’s also a chance to get together with like-minded people, share experiences and inspire each other.”

Lots of other eco-friendly groups will be there including The Secret Garden, Incredible Edible and Penhill Haven – each of which will bring activities for visitors, including making seed bombs and origami butterflies.

Swindon Morsbags will be giving out handmade bags from repurposed fabric, Free Shop will be there encouraging re-using and sharing, and Swindon Safe and Warm will offer advice on how to save money on energy.

Swindon Climate Action Network will be promoting energy efficiency, and Wiltshire Wildlife Trust will be on hand to showcase different projects.

Those who enjoy arts and crafts will be in for a treat, as Swindon artists Lynette Thomas and Bea Menier will be on hand to help make recycled crafts, including paperback creatures and wire bugs.

There will also be an art exhibition as part of Swindon Open Studios, featuring recycled arts and crafts.

The team at Eastcott Community Organisation are excited by the range of activities on offer.

Chairman Caroline Davies-Khan said: “The range of talks, stalls and activities is fantastic, and we hope it’ll be a really fun afternoon.”
