MAGISTRATES have washed their hands of a man who admitted making and distributing indecent images of children – telling him he will now go before a judge in the crown court.

Alexander Field pleaded guilty to two charges of making indecent images of children on April 30, 2014, when he appeared before magistrates sitting in Swindon on Wednesday. The images were classified as category B and category C.

He further admitted making 58 indecent movies and 35 indecent images of children of category A classification on the following day.

Field, 36, of Highworth Road, South Marston, also pleaded guilty four charges of distributing images of category A, B and C classification to other people between May 2014 and July of that year.

A final charge was of being in possession of two extreme pornographic images involving a horse.

Crown prosecutor Anna Humphreys told the magistrates that police had executed a warrant on Field’s home address after receiving intelligence that he was in possession of 328 indecent images of children.

“He was interviewed and admitted his actions,” she said.

The magistrates declined jurisdiction for the offences and told him he would instead go before the crown court for sentencing.

Chairman of the bench June May said: “These matters are so serious that it is beyond our powers of sentencing.”

He will next appear in the crown court on a date to be fixed. In the meantime he was released on conditional bail not to have any unsupervised contact with a child under the age of 18.
