A 41-YEAR-OLD Swindon man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a woman suffered serious injuries last night.

She was today believed to be in a critical condition in hospital.

Wiltshire Police went to a house in Boyton Close, Badbury Park, near the Great Western Hospital, shortly after 9.30pm.

They found a 36-year-old woman who had suffered serious head, face and hand injuries.

She was taken to the Great Western Hospital by ambulance and was then transferred to the major trauma unit at Southmead Hospital, Bristol, and is believed to be in a critical condition.

Police said today: "A 41-year-old man from Swindon has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. He remains in custody at Gablecross Police Station at this time and our enquiries are continuing.

"Anyone with any information should call Swindon CID on 101, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where information can be left anonymously if preferred."
