A CANCER charity is encouraging people who have been affected by lymphatic cancer to attend a support group meeting.

The Swindon Lymphoma Association support group will be hosting the meeting on Wednesday, March15, from 7pm until 8.30pm in the Oval Room of Nationwide Sports Pavilion, at Croft Country Park in Piper’s Way.

The Lymphoma Association is a national charity providing accurate medical information and support to people affected by lymphatic cancer.

The meeting is aimed at individuals who are, or have been, affected by lymphoma in some way including patients, family members, partners, friends and carers.

Lymphoma is the UK’s fifth most common cancer. Around 125,000 people are currently living with a lymphatic cancer diagnosis.

Every year, more than 19,000 new cases of lymphoma are identified in the UK alone. This makes it the fifth most common cancer diagnosed by clinicians.

Lymphatic cancer can occur in both men and women at any age, but is most common in people over 55.

It is also the most frequently diagnosed cancer in teenagers and young adults.

The services offered include a Freephone helpline, award-winning free patient information, a buddy scheme with telephone links to others with similar experiences, local support groups, regional patient conferences and a website featuring forums.

Anyone who would like to attend the meeting, or would like further information is asked to contact Denise on 07710 393890 or the Lymphoma Association’s Freephone helpline on 0808 808 5555 or visit www.lymphomas.org.uk
