THE Easter bunny, three chicks, a carrot, an egg, a lamb, and flowerpot men Bill and Ben made for an unusual sight at a town centre bank fundraising day

A day of Easter themed activities kicked off at Natwest’s Commercial Road branch with staff getting well and truly in the Spring spirit with colourful costumes for a good cause.

A host of Easter themed cakes baked by staff including mouthwatering millionaire’s shortbread and crème egg cupcakes were on sale.

There was also a raffle with enormous hampers filled full of donated Easter eggs and cuddly toys up for grabs.

Raffle prizes were donated by Morrisons, Marks and Spencer, Iceland, and Tesco with Greggs giving cakes to sell.

All round good-egg and branch manager, Emma Kayser, donned a rabbit onesie and nose to be pushed in a straw-filled trolley along the town centre street, encouraging businesses to buy raffle tickets as she passed.

Proceeds will be donated to Children’s Hospice South-West which provides hospice care for life-limited children and their families from across the South West of England.

Organiser and customer service officer Jane Stanley said she was delighted with the day.

She said: “It makes you feel really excited to come into work when you know you can have fun like this. It really does make you smile and to know we’re doing it for a good cause makes it even more fun.

“It is also hilarious to see Emma put back in the trolley again and racing around with her. I am really glad I work with such a great team who love getting involved in things like this.

“We chose Children’s Hospice South West because it is a cause very close to our hearts. A lot of the team have children and it really brings it home the good work the hospice do for children in the area. We are delighted to be fundraising for them until September and we want more people to get behind us.”

The day of cracking fun saw Jane’s daughter Georgia, nine, joined by Rosie Roberts, also nine, don seasonal chick costumes and invite customers to come into the store and donate.

The team already have a head start on fundraising, bringing in an impressive £452 from bucket collections held at a recent boxing event.

In 2015 the team gathered an amazing 1,141 eggs for disadvantaged children.

The Easter eggs were donated to good causes including Rowdy Bunch, a youth group for disabled children, playgroup Koalas which provides support for children with special needs and the Great Western hospital.
