EIGHT people arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm relating to an incident in Byron Street, near Morrisons, on Monday have been released on bail pending further investigation.

The five men and three women, all from the Swindon area, were arrested after police were called to Byron's Wine Bar just after 12.20am.

An area was taped off while forensic investigations took place yesterday afternoon and a 19-year-old man was taken to the Great Western Hospital for treatment following the incident as he suffered a broken collar bone, head injuries and wounds to his face.

DS Mark Lewis, from Swindon CID, said: "This is believed to be an isolated incident and our enquiries are continuing. We would like anyone who was in the area at the time of the assault to come forward and speak with us.

"It was very busy in this area of town at the time of the incident and I'm sure there will have been further witnesses to the incident."

Police are appealing for anyone who saw what happened to call 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
