Family and friends of young Corey Dash are organising a fundraising event in his memory.

Corey, 11, from Penhill, died in the early hours of September 1, 2016, at the Great Western Hospital after suffering an asthma attack.

Family and friends of the former Pinehurst School pupil are holding a family fun day this Saturday.

Cash raised from the fundraising event will be split, with some of the money helping to pay for Corey's headstone and the remainder donated to charity Asthma UK.

Carla Dunn, one of the event organisers, said: "Corey was amazing. He was really lovely and funny."

The event - at the Ferndale Club - will boast face painting, a bouncy castle, disco, children's tattoos and a live band. Local businesses including Cineworld, Khyber and Cotswold Wildlife Park have donated prizes for a charity raffle.

"It should be a really nice day," Carla said.

"Corey would have loved it."

The Corey Dash Family Fun Day will be held at the Ferndale Club, Ferndale Road, on Saturday July 1, 1-11pm. For more, visit: www.facebook.com/events/814883125340782
