DEFENDER Lloyd Jones has been charged with two counts of assault dating back to when he on-loan at Swindon Town.

The 21-year-old was arrested in the early hours of Sunday, March 12, outside a nightclub in Regent Street in Cheltenham just hours after the side's 3-2 defeat to Port Vale.

He was an unused sub during the game at Vale Park.

Jones, was originally signed on for a season-long loan from Anfield but returned to his parent club, Liverpool, at the end of April.

Today, a Gloucestershire Police spokesman said: "A 21-year-old man has been charged with assault following an incident at a night club in Cheltenham.

"Lloyd Jones, from Caradon Close, Plymouth, was bailed to appear before Cheltenham magistrates on July 27.

"He is charged with two counts of assault relating to an alleged incident at the club in the early hours of March 12."
