KIDS and grown-ups descended on Swindon Cricket Club on Sunday for a charity fun day.

Organised by the Rotary Club of Swindon following the success of last year’s event, the day, hosted at Swindon Cricket Club, saw people come together for an afternoon of sport and fundraising.

The fun day had something for everyone, from a VIP lunch and auction to a Q&A session with ex England International cricketer Phil de Freitas.

The day also included all the favourites spread across more than 30 stalls, including face painting, fairground stalls, craft stalls, tombola and vintage cars.

Running alongside the fun day stalls were also cricket matches for the kids and a Wiltshire Ladies T20 match starting.

A BBQ ran throughout the day and the bar was well stocked.

All proceeds raised through the day were donated to rotary charities, including End Polio Now, a charity organisation with strong links to the Rotary Club movement worldwide, which has the aim of eradicating polio.

Chris Bernard had brought his two sons, Ryan, 13, and James, 11, to the fete to see what it was all about.

Chris, 37, from West Swindon, said: “We like any excuse to get out into the fresh air, and it’s always good to make the most of the sunshine. We’ve enjoyed it so far and I think we’ll be having another few games of cricket later.”
