ROCK fans from all over town descended on the Blunsdon Arms on Saturday for a live music marathon to raise funds for Swindon SOBS.

The Get Rocked festival hosted performances from popular local acts such as Get Carter, The Corsairs, Bleep Machines, Primates, Midlife Crisis and Blind Lemon.

The event, which organisers estimate was attended by between 1,200 and 1,500 people, was also a chance for local rockers Get Carter, who opened and closed the set, to mark their ten year anniversary.

Leisha Bullen, deputy manager at the Blunsdon Arms, said: “It was a fantastic day, certainly a lot busier than we expected.

“Everyone we spoke to said they really enjoyed it and we will certainly be doing the same again next year.

“It was great to see Get Carter celebrate their tenth anniversary and all the bands that played did a brilliant job.”

SOBS, which stands for Survivors of Bereavement by Suicide, is a charity which helps those bereaved by suicide.

Jacky Parry, of SOBS, was overwhelmed by the amount of people who turned up to support the cause.

She said: “It was incredible. We only expected about 250 people to come; we were blown away by the numbers that came through the doors.

“The atmosphere was so amazing and everyone was having fun in the sun, enjoying the music and celebrating Get Carter’s 10 year anniversary.”
