A WORKER has been taken to hospital after suffering what is believed to be an electric shock at the building site for a new Metro Bank in Swindon town centre.

South Western Ambulance Service said they were called just before 2pm to the man who suffered burns to his arms, face and neck. He was taken to the Great Western Hospital for treatment.

The Health and Safety Executive has been called in to investigate.

Construction workers moved on to the site, formerly home to an American Candy Store, earlier this summer.

The new branch of the bank, billed as a revolution in British banking, is expected to be open for business by Christmas and will provide 25 new jobs.
