PRIMARY school pupils in an east Oxfordshire village could be set to get better facilities.

Oxfordshire County Council has applied for planning permission to build a two-classroom structure at Great Milton Primary School.

The plans involve demolishing an existing building housing one classroom, and replace it with a hardstanding providing suitable access for fire engines.

A new prefabricated building containing two classrooms would then be placed on land behind the village’s tennis court.

The council lodged its proposal last week with the planning authority, South Oxfordshire District Council, and a decision is due by September 20.

Its plans would see the school gain 32.5 square metres more classroom space than it currently has in the existing prefabricated building.

The school in The Green had 163 pupils on its roll during its last Ofsted inspection in 2013, during which it was rated ‘good’.
