A WOMAN had to be cut free from an overturned car in Mead Way on Thursday night.

Emergency services raced to the scene in West Swindon just after 10.45pm to reports of a single vehicle collision.

The silver Nissan 350z had flipped over on its roof, trapping the female passenger inside.

Paramedics from South Western Ambulance Service sent three rapid response cars as well as two ambulances to treat the patients. 

The 19-year-old female was taken to Southmead Hospital with a collapsed lung and pelvis injuries.   She is currently still in hospital. 

The 21-year-old driver was arrested on suspicion of drink driving. He has been released under investigation. 

Firefighters from Westlea and Swindon helped paramedics gain access to the car.
