A chef who is accused of controlling or coercive behaviour in an intimate relationship is to face trial by judge and jury.
Dean Hopcroft is said to have committed the alleged offences in Swindon over a period of more than 18 months.
The 50-year-old, now of Bridgend, South Wales, admitted common assault on the woman on Wednesday, July 19, when he appeared at Swindon Crown Court.
Judge Robert Pawson adjourned the case to Monday, January 8, and released him on conditional bail until then.
