Adver Sport assess the performances of Swindon Town's players in today's 2-1 defeat at Cheltenham Town.
REICE CHARLES-COOK – 8
Very good debut capped by a wonderful penalty save. Not a flurry of shots to stop but commanded his box well and did not deserve to be on the losing side.
BEN PURKISS – 6
Solid if not spectacular from the full-back and Cheltenham did not threaten down his flank too often.
OLLY LANCASHIRE – 6.5
Mopped up bits of danger nicely but as skipper, perhaps should have been the man to take on responsibility for dealing with the late free-kick that ultimately cost Town.
MATT PRESTON – 8
Strong display at the back and nullified the hosts’ threats and showed he is a weapon in both boxes with his headed goal.
MATT TAYLOR – 6
Not his most comfortable afternoon but his set-pieces were a real danger, one of which led to Town’s goal. Booked.
AMINE LINGANZI – 7
Battled hard in the middle of the park and has a habit of just being able to get something in the way to break up opposition’s play.
JAMES DUNNE – 6
Worked hard in the middle as always but no need for him to jump into the challenge in the box that gave away the penalty.
KELLAN GORDON – 5.5
Did not have the usual spark about him out wide and only saw a limited amount of the ball. Subbed at half-time.
KESHI ANDERSON – 7
Was a willing runner and went looking for the ball but did not link up as well with Norris as we have seen before. Subbed.
KAIYNE WOOLERY – 5.5
Spent a lot of time out wide but had a few loose touches and did not threaten much before being taken off at the break.
LUKE NORRIS – 7.5
Was not afraid to get rough and ready with the home defence, won aerial duels and fashioned a good chance for himself with the score at 1-1 late on.
Substitutes:
JOHN GODDARD – 7
(For Gordon, 46) Seems to just have that extra split second on the ball and helped improve Town’s attacking threat after the break.
DONAL MCDERMOTT – 7
(For Woolery, 46) Like Goddard, gave Town more impetus going forward and was no afraid to take defenders on.
PAUL MULLIN – 6
(For Anderson, 81) All his usual endeavour but no real time to make a meaningful impact.
Subs not used: Will Henry, Chris Robertson, Harry Smith, Kyle Knoyle.
