A GRANGE Park care home is celebrating after rising through the rankings.

Health watchdog the Care Quality Commission (CQC) gave 7 Eworth Close a “Good” rating, following an inspection in September.

It comes a year after the care home was rated as “requires improvement” – and given four areas where care needed to improve in order to meet regulations.

Inspectors, who visited the care home on September 8, praised staff. The home offers accommodation for 11 people across two buildings.

In their report, the CQC wrote: “People who used the service felt safe and relatives had confident in the ability of staff to keep people safe.”

Patients and their relatives told inspectors that staff were “caring, patient and upheld people’s dignity”.

Inspectors said that care plans were “personalised”. One individual at the home told inspectors that the nurses “are always kind to me”.

The positive report represents a turnaround in fortunes for the Grange Park home.

The care home was inspected in February last year. Inspectors said: “During that inspection we found safeguarding adult procedures were not always followed.

“People had little autonomy and their care plans were not developed in a manner that respected their rights.”

The last 12 months had seen new procedures put in place, inspectors said.

One relative told them: “The manager faced quite a significant challenge and she has risen to it. In the vast majority of cases she has brought the staff with her and the general atmosphere of the home is much better.”
