UGG opened its doors in Swindon yesterday (Nov 9) as dozens of eager shoppers turned up to grab a pair of the sleek and snuggly boots for winter.

An excited queue snaked its way around the McArthurGlen Designer Outlet while those already inside bustled around trying on their preferred style of the Australian brand.

There were no men to be seen among the customers, who hurried around the store snapping up the popular sheepskin boots after the doors opened at 10am.

Store manager Hannah Simmons, 28, said: “The first person turned up at 7.50am and earlier this morning the queue stretched all the way down to Carluccio’s.”

The first 100 customers were given a mini UGG boot keyring gift at the tills and the first 20 customers in line received a 20% discount.

Friends Katie Dixon, 33, and Karly Banning, 34, were shopping for UGG slippers.

“My baby is due on Monday and I want some slippers for the hospital,” said Katie.

“The baby is coming out in style!” joked Karly.

Samantha Kenny, 27, and Rebecca Blake, 30, met while queueing to get in with their pushchairs.

Nearly at the front, they had been waiting about 20 minutes.

“We’re queue friends!” said Rebecca.

Samantha was there to look for some children’s UGGs for her five-year-old daughter.

“She’s a pink fan!” she said.

Lucy Puffett, 35, was looking for an upgrade from her thinner fake UGGs, while Lisa Randall, 30, was helping her 26-year-old sister Karen look for her first pair.

Store bosses have said they are delighted with the opening just in time for Christmas and centre manager Tina Cumpstey said she was ‘thrilled’ to welcome UGG.

There is a 10% discount on all products until Wednesday (Nov 15) and the first 20 customers every day until Sunday (Nov 12) will receive a 20% discount.
