DISRUPTION is looming for those travelling by train this weekend and next week due to ongoing engineering work.

Rail operator Great Western Railway has urged all passengers to double check the times of trains before leaving for the station ahead of the work.

On Saturday services calling at Swindon and travelling between London Paddington and Bristol Temple Meads will leave up to 12 minutes earlier than usual throughout the day.

Services travelling in the opposite direction between Bristol Temple Meads and London Paddington will leave up to five minutes later.

Meanwhile, services between London Paddington and South Wales will be diverted between Swindon and Newport. Replacement buses will serve Bristol Parkway instead.

Services will also be diverted on Sunday, with GWR advising passengers to expect an additional 45 minutes to be added to their journey times if they are travelling between Swindon and Newport.

There will also be changes to timetabled services between Swindon and Westbury all day on Saturday and Sunday, with services slightly retimed.

The engineering work will continue into next week too, with replacement bus services serving Swindon instead of late night trains.

On Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9.45pm until the end of service, trains between London Paddington and South Wales/Bristol Temple Meads will be diverted and will not call at Didcot Parkway, Swindon or Chippenham. Replacement buses will serve these stations.
