A HOMELESS man who breached a restraining order to give his ex-girlfriend gifts for their children and shout through her letterbox has been jailed for six weeks.

George Cormack, 40, turned up at the woman’s house on Ainsworth Road three times between October 25 and November 7 this year.

On one occasion he left Pokemon cards and a teddy bear outside her door alongside an empty medication box. An ominous note beside it said he missed the children and didn’t know how much more he could take, Swindon Magistrates’ Court heard.

A restraining order was imposed on January 21 last year prohibiting Cormack from visiting his ex’s home or contacting her directly or indirectly. He lied that the restraining order was no longer in place when he visited her on the evening of October 25 and she allowed him to stay at the property for the next six days.

She then kicked him out because ‘he was constantly pestering her for money’, said prosecutor Keith Ballinger.

At 8pm on November 5 he shouted through the letterbox that he had left three bags of bits for their children outside the door.

The next day she was shocked to discover that the restraining order was still in place after reading a court letter addressed to Cormack which was posted through her door.

But on November 7 he returned to the property again, leaving the gifts and a note on the doorstep.

Cormack, who has been sleeping in a car park in Fleming Way, admitted harassment.

Magistrate Richard Mattick told him: “It’s obvious you want to see your children and no one wants to stop you doing that, but you must do it the proper way through probation.”

He was previously given a four-week prison sentence suspended for 12 months for assaulting his ex. This was activated and he was jailed for a total of six weeks.

Cormack was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £115.
