SWINDON Barbell Club - Matt Watson, Christie Civetta and Charlie Shotton-Gale - helped to send records tumbling at the IPF World Open Powerlifting Championships.
Watson, who had recently competed at the Western European Championships, delivered a five kgs personal best bench with 195kgs before landing a 237.5kgs deadlift at the third attempt
Fellow Western European competitor Civetta was entering only her second ever worlds event, but her first as a 72kgs lifter, securing a personal-best bench lift of 112.5kgs.
She finished the competition with three successful deadlifts ending on 185kgs, five more than her 84kg personal best.
In her seventh world championships Shotton-Gale, who has struggled with injury this season, was way down on her squat, achieving only 210kgs, but managed to increase her own British bench record up to 142.5kgs.
Shotton-Gale then stood up with a British record-breaking 210kgs in the deadlift, but was deemed not to have locked it out.
Swindon Barbell will have five full powerlifting and three bench-only competitors at January's British Championships.
